About

A lonely, sensitive child, I spent much of my time in the woods, climbing trees and watching wildlife. Inspired by the beauty of nature, but appalled by man's exploitation of it, I was determined to save the world.

This led to a career in nature conservation, 16 years of which were spent on Brownsea Island as Warden.

I picked up a book one day of Tennyson poems and discovered 'The How and the Why' which astounded me and made me realise that a poet of over 100 years ago could feel the same as I felt, right here, right now. My love of poetry grew and I discovered that I too, could express my emotions in a way that was beautiful, descriptive and cathartic.

Encouraged to lead guided tours and help organise big events on Brownsea, my confidence grew, and in time, I was doing live radio shows and addressing crowds of over 200 people and then, in 2016 I debuted at The Winchester Bar with my first live poetry performance.
